My Story
When I was a girl, my Nana stepped in to raise me. It was a difficult time to say the least. I started a new dance school and I desperately wanted to fit in with all the other ballerinas in their fancy wrap skirts. Once again, Nana to the rescue!
She taught me how to design and make my own skirts for class. She took me to the fabric stores to hand select all of the beautiful textiles. I learned by designing, sewing - and either loving it or hating it. If I hated it, I tore it apart and put it back together. That is one of the special things about this trade. I've been hooked on it ever since creating - clothing, pillows and more. Creating fuels this life I'm living! A fun little tidbit for you — I'm still using the machine that my Nana trained me on all those years ago. I like to believe that she is guiding me, including right here.
Bridgette Marie Handcrafted combines my love of colorful textiles with an understanding that, sometimes adults need a time out. I understand that often we are so busy, doing and going and being, that we forget that rest is equally important.
Each luxury blanket is one of a kind — handmade using sustainable kantha material (recycled saris and recycled fabric that have been stacked and stitched by hand using the signature stitch) and backed with ultra soft sherpa fabric that practically begs you to snuggle up.
When I am not creating in the sewing room or meeting you all at maker's markets, I spend time designing interiors, exploring outdoors, painting with acrylics, reading non-fiction books and lots resting.
Thank you for shopping with me. Each and every order fill my cup. I am, and will always be, eternally grateful for this community. Without you, this doesn't exist.
XOXO
